Maitencillo: a paradise within paradise
Maitencillo Beach is one of Chile’s most outstanding yet accessible coastal destinations.
Ideally placed approximately half way between the extremities of this extraordinary, long, slim country, Maitencillo sits at 32o south – a jewel of the South Pacific yet just a short drive north west from the bustling capital city of Santiago. Its region is Valparaíso, which translates as ‘Val’s Paradise’: Pedro de Valdivia was a Spanish missionary and the first Cardinal of Chile.
Maitencillo is a peaceful yet active village surrounded by picturesque country landscapes, forests and stunning blonde South Pacific beaches dotted with areas of volcanic rocks.
Activities at Maitencillo Beach
With its temperate climate and endless natural resources there is plenty to do for everyone, all-year-round, in Maitencillo.
There is a small fishing port where you can buy fresh seafood daily from the local fishermen. Various craft markets pop up both in Maitencillo and along the beautiful coast road, which are well worth a visit.
If you’re in search of adventure, try scuba diving, paragliding, surfing, horse-riding, orienteering, hiking and cycling.
If your interests are more restful you can spend time immersed in photography, wildlife-spotting (including playful otters), art, swimming, fishing or just strolling along the beach or through the forest.
There is also a 27-hole golf course above Maitencillo in Marbella.
Or, of course, you can simply while away the time on the fabulous decking area around our eco swimming pool or laze on the beach.
There is plenty to do and see during the evenings, with bars and restaurants both lively and quiet to suit most tastes within easy walking distance of our cabañas.
